True words of a testament to exemplify a life well lived; we gracefully announce the transition of Mr. Jimmy Stephens Jr., 68, of Phenix City, Alabama; a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend. As his parting leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, his legacy will continue to be celebrated and carried on.
Jimmy Stephens Jr. 68, passed on Wednesday January 26, 2022, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown. Graveside service will be at 11:00AM on Friday February 4, 2022, at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Alabama according to New Generation Memorial Mortuary. Viewing will be on Thursday February 3, 2022, from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM at the funeral home located at 418 South Seale Road, Phenix City.
Mr. Jimmy Stephens Jr. known to many as “Pony” was born in Phenix City, Alabama to Jimmy Stephens, Sr., and Mary Alice Sumbry Ziglor on November 23, 1953. He acknowledged acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and became a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He completed his primary and secondary education in Phenix City, Alabama. He completed his nursing training at Sparks Technical College after which he joined the United States Navy and retired after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rainita Stephens and both parents.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: two sons, Rafael and Darien Stephens; one daughter, Oriana Stephens; two brothers, Lawrence (Beverly) Stephens and Jason Stephens; two sisters, Sabrena Stephens and Eileen Denice (Johnny) McCray; five nephews, three nieces, brother-in-law, Raymond L. (Elaine) DeLoach III; two special cousins, Alvin and Josiah Sumbry; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In compliance with the recommended guidelines of the CDC a facial covering will be required prior to entering all facilities, during all services.
