Mrs. Irene Woods was born September 2, 1925 to the late Sylvester Wilburn Sr. and Geniva Wilson. She departed this life on August 19, 2021 in West Palm Beach, Florida where she lived with her daughter.
Irene grew up in Phenix City, Alabama. As an adult she moved to Columbus, Georgia. She was employed by Matthews in Peachtree Mall for may years. She also worked at Kirvens on Broadway in Columbus, Georgia before marrying Rev. Thomas Words and moving to Sumpter, South Carolina.
She was proceded in death by her husband and her brother Sylvester Wilburn Jr., and granddaughter Mila A. Jones.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughter, Sarah E. Andrews (Ronald) of West Palm Beach, FL and Jerry Smith of Columbus, GA; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Brittany (Troy) and Nicholas (Cressy); grandson-in-law, Alfonza Jones; five nieces, Shuron Drew, Vicki Drew, Gena Aldridge (Rodrick), Vivian Wilburn and Angela Wilburn; two nephews, Jeffery Wilburn and Rodrick Drew (Chandra); adopted daughter, Michelle Mills; a devoted sister, Carrie L. Harpand many other relatives from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Michigan.
